Dermatan sulfate is involved in the tumorigenic properties of Esophagus Squamous Cell Carcinoma

(Submitter supplied) Extracellular matrix, either produced by cancer cells or by cancer-associated fibroblasts, influences angiogenesis, invasion and metastasis. Chondroitin/dermatan sulfate (CS/DS) proteoglycans, which occur both in the matrix and at the cell surface, play important roles in these processes. The unique feature that distinguishes DS from CS is the presence of iduronic acid (IdoA) in DS. The main IdoA-producing enzyme, DS epimerase 1 (DS-epi1) was highly up-regulated in ESCC biopsies. more...

Tasquinimod, a Quinoline-3-Carboxamide Anti-Angiogenic Agent, treated Prostate Cancer Cell Line in-vivo and in-vitro

(Submitter supplied) The quinoline-3-carboxamide ABR-215050 (Tasquinimod (INN)), exhibits anti-tumor activity via inhibition of tumor angiogenesis in human and rodent tumors. To further explore the mode of action of ABR-215050, in vivo experiments with gene microarray analysis were performed using samples of LNCaP prostate tumors excised from nude mice exposed to ABR-215050 for 24h at 10 mg/kg(ad.lib.). The array data were validated by real-time PCR (sqRT-PCR), as well as by protein expression experiments. more...

Retroviral transduction of CD34+ cells with P190 and P210 BCR/ABL1 fusion genes

(Submitter supplied) Expression of P190 and P210 BCR/ABL1 in normal human CD34(+) cells induces similar gene expression profiles and results in a STAT5-dependent expansion of the erythroid lineage The P190 and P210 BCR/ABL1 fusion genes are mainly associated with different types of hematologic malignancies, but it is presently unclear whether they are functionally different following expression in primitive human hematopoietic cells. more...

Stage III serous ovarian adenocarcinomas

(Submitter supplied) The clinical outcome for patients with ovarian cancer is difficult to predict. However, the use of biomarkers as additional prognostic factors may improve the outcome for these patients. In order to find novel candidate biomarkers, differences in gene expressions were analyzed in 54 stage III serous ovarian adenocarcinomas with oligonucleotide microarrays containing 27,000 unique probes. The microarray data was verified with quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction for the genes TACC1, MUC5B and PRAME. more...

Stage III serous ovarian adenocarcinomas

Analysis of stage III ovarian serous papillary adenocarcinomas from 5-year survivors and deceased patients. Ovarian carcinoma is often not detected until an advanced stage. Results provide insight into gene expression patterns associated with survival that could have prognostic relevance.

Gene Expression Analysis of Human Endometrial Endothelial Cells Exposed to Bisphenol A

(Submitter supplied) The endocrine disrupting chemical bisphenol A (BPA) can affect reproductive organs, tissues and cells in several species. Treatment of human endometrial endothelial cells (HEECs) with 50 µM BPA decreased their proliferation compared with the control. Microarray analyses revealed that BPA affected biological processes such as the cell cycle, cell division, and cytoskeleton organization, confirming the results of the proliferation assay. more...

Gene Expression Analysis of Human Endometrial Endothelial Cells Exposed to o,p'-DDT

(Submitter supplied) The endocrine disrupting chemical o,p'-DDT can affect reproductive organs, tissues and cells in several species. Treatment of human endometrial endothelial cells (HEEC) with 50 µM o,p'-DDT decreased the cell proliferation compared to the control. Microarray analyses revealed that o,p'-DDT affected biological processes such as the cell cycle, cell division, defence response and lipid and steroid metabolism, in cellular components such as the plasma membrane and chromosomes, with molecular functions involved in signalling, receptor and cytokine activity, confirming the results of the proliferation assay. more...

SWEGENE H_v2.1.1_27k

(Submitter supplied) Arrays were produced by the Swegene DNA micro array resource center at Lund University by using probes from Operon. Probes were recovered in Corning Universal Spotting Solution and printed on amino-silane-coated glass slides (UltraGAPS from Corning) using a MicroGrid2 robot (BioRobotics).
