Growth protocol Samples were randomly collected from the villous portion of human placentae, washed with PBS and transferred and stored in RNAlater; later from each 3 mm fragment distal villi were macrodissected and stored at -80ºC.

Scan protocol Scanned on an Agilent G2565AA scanner.
Images were quantified by Agilent Feature Extraction software (v9.0) (Santa Clara, CA), using the Human Agilent CpG version 20070820 grid file and CGH V4-91 protocol

Data processing The background subtracted output raw data was imported to Partek® software, version 6.3 Copyright © 2008, Partek Inc., St. Louis, MO. The imported red and green signals raw data was normalized to baseline, by dividing the red signal (MeDIP fraction) by the green signal (total genomic DNA fraction), log2 transformed and quantile normalized between all the arrays.
