A549 lung cancer cells were treated with 0.1% DMSO, cordycepin 60 ug/mL, and cordyceps 100 ug/mL for 48hrs.

| Growth protocol |
A549 cells were grown in DMEM supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum, 1% penicillin-streptomycin, 10 mM nicotinamide, 10 μM troglitazone, and 16.7 μM zinc sulfate. Cells were cultured in humidified incubator at 37℃ and 5% CO2.

| Extraction protocol |
RNA was prepared using theTrizol reagent (Invitrogen, Carlsbad, CA, USA) following the manufacturer's recommendations. RNA was quantified using a NanoDrop spectrophotometer and quality was monitored with the Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer (Agilent Technologies, Santa Clara, CA).
