ZINC FINGER PROTEIN 528; ZNF528

Alternative titles; symbols

KIAA1827

HGNC Approved Gene Symbol: ZNF528

Cytogenetic location: 19q13.41     Genomic coordinates (GRCh38): 19:52,397,849-52,418,401 (from NCBI)

TEXT

Cloning and Expression

By sequencing clones obtained from a size-fractionated fetal brain cDNA library, Nagase et al. (2001) cloned ZNF528, which they designated KIAA1827. The transcript contains repetitive elements in its 3-prime UTR. The deduced 469-amino acid protein shares 57% and 61% identity with human ZNF91 (603971) and ZNF83 (194558), respectively. RT-PCR ELISA detected ZNF528 expression in all adult and fetal tissues and specific adult brain regions examined. Highest expression was detected in adult cerebellum and caudate nucleus, and lowest expression was detected in adult liver. Database analysis revealed a related transcription factor in Drosophila.

Mapping

Hartz (2013) mapped the ZNF528 gene to chromosome 19q13.41 based on an alignment of the ZNF528 sequence (GenBank AB058730) with the genomic sequence (GRCh37).
