    Summary
    This gene encodes a cytosolic enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of thiamine triphosphate to thiamine diphosphate. The encoded protein requires divalent cations for enzymatic activity. The gene product is believed to play a role in regulation of thiamine triphosphate intracellular concentration, and it may be a messenger in cell signaling in response to cellular stress.
