Involved in several processes, including fat cell differentiation; osteoblast differentiation; and positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Acts upstream of or within negative regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II and positive regulation of transcription, DNA-templated. Located in nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; embryo mesenchyme; genitourinary system; sensory organ; and skin. Orthologous to human GLIS1 (GLIS family zinc finger 1).
