These results expand the model of insulin-stimulated glucose uptake in skeletal muscle cells by implicating p41ARC as a new component of the insulin-signaling cascade and connecting PAK1 signaling to N-WASP-cortactin-mediated actin polymerization and GLUT4 vesicle translocation.
Title: The actin-related p41ARC subunit contributes to p21-activated kinase-1 (PAK1)-mediated glucose uptake into skeletal muscle cells.
Arpc1b knockdown in adult rat testis led to defects in spermiation caused by failure in Sertoli-cell tubulobulbar complexes formation. Knockdown also compromised blood-testis barrier integrity and caused polarity defects of mature spermatids. Arpc1b reduction perturbed ability of germ cells to enter G2/M phase thus hindering cell division.
Title: Actin related protein complex subunit 1b controls sperm release, barrier integrity and cell division during adult rat spermatogenesis.
Data suggest that expression of spermiation-related genes is directly up-regulated by estrogen 17-beta-estradiol in testes of adult rats; a functional estrogen response element lies upstream of Arpc1b and Evl genes.
