DEVELOPMENTAL MicroRNA EXPRESSION PROFILING OF MURINE EMBRYONIC OROFACIAL TISSUE

(Submitter supplied) BACKGROUND: Orofacial development is a multifaceted process involving precise, spatio-temporal expression of a panoply of genes. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) constitute the largest family of noncoding RNAs involved in gene silencing, and represent critical regulators of cell and tissue differentiation. MicroRNA gene expression profiling is an effective means of acquiring novel and valuable information regarding the expression and regulation of genes, under the control of miRNA, involved in mammalian orofacial development. more...

Gene expression profiling of the tongue in Tgfbr2 mutant mouse models

(Submitter supplied) The overall goal of this project is to investigate the role of TGF-beta signaling in tongue development in order to study the contribution of cranial neural crest (CNC) cells towards the patterning of cranial mesoderm for proper tongue formation. Here, we conducted gene expression profiling of embryonic tongue tissue from wild type mice as well as those with a neural crest specific conditional inactivation of the Tgfbr2 gene. more...

DEVELOPMENTAL MicroRNA EXPRESSION PROFILING OF MURINE NEURAL TUBE

(Submitter supplied) BACKGROUND: Development of the neural tube is a highly orchestrated process relying on precise, spatio-temporal expression of numerous genes as well as hierarchies of signal transduction and gene regulatory networks. Disruption of expression of a number of genes participating in these networks is believed to underlie developmental anomalies such as neural tube defects (NTDs) resulting from anomalous neural tube morphogenesis. more...

Regulation of signaling genes by TGFbeta during entry into dauer diapause in C. elegans

(Submitter supplied) BACKGROUND: When resources are scant, C. elegans larvae arrest as long-lived dauers under the control of insulin/IGF- and TGFbeta-related signaling pathways. : We have identified genes that show different levels of expression in a comparison of wild-type L2 or L3 larvae (non-dauer) to TGFbeta mutants at similar developmental stages undergoing dauer formation. Many insulin/IGF pathway and other known dauer regulatory genes have changes in expression that suggest strong positive feedback by the TGFbeta pathway. more...

Transforming growth factor beta signaling and decidual development in mice

(Submitter supplied) Transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) signaling regulates multifaceted reproductive processes via its transmembrane receptor complex-associated machinery. It has been shown that the type 1 receptor of TGFβ (TGFBR1) is indispensable for female reproductive tract development, pregnancy success, and fertility. However, the role of TGFβ signaling in decidual development and function remains poorly defined. more...

Fetal lung development

(Submitter supplied) Fetal lung development is a complex biological process, which involves temporal and spatial regulations of many genes.
