Type 2 diabetic (TALLYHO/JngJ x C57BL6) F2 males: liver, pancreas, muscle and adipose tissue

Analysis of various tissues from TH x B6 F2 males with high triglycerides. TH mice are a polygenic model for type 2 diabetes (T2D) characterized by obesity, insulin resistance, and hyperlipidemia. Results provide insight into quantitative trait loci (QTLs) affecting hypertriglyceridemia in TH mice.

Genetic and genomic analysis of hyperlipidemia, obesity and diabetes using TALLYHO x C57BL6 F2 mice

(Submitter supplied) Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is the most common form of diabetes in humans and is closely associated with dyslipidemia and obesity that magnifies the mortality and morbidity related to T2D. The TALLYHO/JngJ (TH) mouse is a polygenic model for T2D characterized by obesity, hyperinsulinemia, impaired glucose uptake and tolerance, hyperlipidemia, and hyperglycemia. To determine the genetic factors that contribute to these T2D related characteristics in TH mice, we interbred TH mice with C57BL/6J (B6) mice. more...

Expression data from the aorta of DBA, B6 and 129 mice

(Submitter supplied) Strain differences influence susceptibility to atherosclerosis. Apolipoprotein E-null mice on a DBA/2J genetic background (DBA-apoE) and C57BL/6 (B6-apoe) are highly susceptible to atherosclerosis in the aortic root area compared with those on a 129S6/SvEvTac background (129-apoE). To explore strain-specific differences affecting the susceptibility to atherosclerosis, we performed microarray analysis of aortic arch and root from wild type mice of each strains.

Expression data from thioglycollate-elicited peritoneal macrophages from 129S6/SvEvTac and C57BL/6 mice

(Submitter supplied) Strain differences influence susceptibility to atherosclerosis. Apolipoprotein E-null mice on a C57BL/6 genetic background (B6-apoE) are highly susceptible to atherosclerosis in the aortic root area compared with those on a 129S6/SvEvTac background (129-apoE). To explore strain-specific differences affecting the susceptibility to atherosclerosis, we performed microarray analysis of macrophages from wild type mice of each strains.

Expression data from livers of F2 mice (C57BL/6 X DBA/2) deficient in leptin receptor (db/db)

(Submitter supplied) In several models of obesity-induced diabetes, increased lipid accumulation in the liver has been associated with decreased diabetes susceptibility. For instance, deficiency in leptin receptor (db/db) leads to hyperphagia and obesity in both C57BL/6 and C57BLKS mice but, only on the C57BLKS background do the mice develop beta-cell loss leading to severe diabetes while C57BL/6 mice are relatively resistant. more...
