Na+/H+ exchanger 3 deficiency effect on the colon

Analysis of mutant colons lacking Na+/H+ exchanger 3 (NHE3). NHE3 provides a major route for intestinal Na+ absorption. NHE3 deficient animals develop colitis restricted to the distal colonic mucosa. Results provide insight into the molecular basis of colitis development induced by NHE3 deficiency.
Organism:
Mus musculus

Expression profiling by array, count, 2 genotype/variation sets

Expression data from the colon of wild-type and Slc9a3 (NHE3)-deficient mice

(Submitter supplied) Na+/H+ exchanger 3 (NHE3) provides a major route for intestinal Na+ absorption. It has been considered as a target of proinflammatory cytokines and enteropathogenic bacteria and impaired NHE3 expression and/or activity may be responsible for inflammation-associated diarrhea. We used microarray analysis to detail the global programme of colonic gene expression in the absence of functional NHE3. Keywords: knockout effect

Global gene expression profile of small intestine from wild-type and CFTR-knockout mice.

(Submitter supplied) The objective of this study was to identify changes in gene expression levels between wild-type and CFTR-knockout small intestine. CFTR-knockout mice (provided by Dr. Lane Clarke of the University of Missouri) were maintained on colyte. Keywords: gene expression comparison

Effects of NHE3 knockdown on the transcriptome of human colonic adenocarcinoma cells SK-CO15

(Submitter supplied) NHE3 expression is downregulated in human colerectal cancer. This study evaluates the influence of of ca. 70% decrease in NHE3 expression on the transcriptomic profile of human colonic adenocarcinoma cells SK-CO15
