Gene expression profiling of circulating plasma RNA from colorectal cancer patients

(Submitter supplied) Gene expression profiling of circulating plasma RNA is a valuable tool to detect cancer and a potential clinical instrument to study tumor progression and therapy responsiveness. In this study, differential gene expression analysis was used to identify genes specifically increased in cancer patients. Keywords: Disease state analysis

Feasibility of unbiased RNA profiling of colorectal tumors: a proof of principle.

(Submitter supplied) Liquid biopsy profile which can screen for early CRC. We aimed to depict the profile of early stage CRC as well as for advanced adenomas by combination of current molecular knowledge with microarray technology, using efficient circulating free RNA purification from blood and RNA amplification technologies. Circulating free RNA profile of plasma from colorectal cancer patients, advanced adenomas and healthy colonoscopia subjects.

S100P, a calcium-binding protein, is associated with polypoid tumour growth in colorectal carcinogenesis

(Submitter supplied) Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a genetically heterogeneous disease with several distinct morphological growth patterns. This study was aimed to investigate genes differentially expressed between ulcerative and polypoid colorectal CRC. cDNA microarray was first employed to compare the gene expression profiling of ulcerative and polypoid CRC with paired normal mucosa. Potential candidates identified by data filtering were further validated using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, western blot and immunohistochemistry. more...

Plasma microRNA profiling by microarray elucidates several candidate biomarkers for colorectal cancer screening

(Submitter supplied) MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNA molecules which function as negative gene regulators. The tissue expression profile of miRNAs shows great promise as a novel biomarker for diagnosis of cancer and other diseases. In addition, some recent reports have demonstrated that are present in human serum and plasma which could make them an ideal non-invasive biomarker for diagnosis of cancer. The aim of this study is to analyze the value/efficacy of the expression profile of plasma miRNAs in differentiating between patients with advanced adenomas and CRC and healthy individuals.

Expression data from Lung cancer

(Submitter supplied) Detection, treatment, and prediction of outcome for lung cancer patients increasingly depend on a molecular understanding of tumor development and sensitivity of lung cancer to therapeutic drugs. The application of genomic technologies, such as microarray, is widely used to monitor global gene expression and has built up invaluable information and knowledge, which is essential to the discovery of new insights into the mechanisms common to cancer cells, resulting in the identification of unique, identifiable signatures and specific characteristics. more...

Circulating U2 small nuclear RNA fragments as a novel diagnostic biomarker for pancreatic and colorectal adenocarcinoma

(Submitter supplied) Global microRNA expression profiling of serum were collected using Agilent miRNA microarrays (G4471A Human, Amadid 29297, Sanger 14) carrying 887 individual human miRNA probes. Two different sources of RNA were analyzed: serum from NMRI-nu/nu mice carrying a xenograft tumor derived from human primary pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (CA, n=6) and serum from tumor free control NMRI-nu/nu mice (N, n=6)
