LATS regulates heavy metal response

(Submitter supplied) Heavy metals are essential integral parts of cells and environmental toxicants, whose deregulation is associated with severe cellular dysfunction and various diseases. The Hippo pathway plays a critical role in organ size control and cancer development. In this study, we use RNA-Seq to investigate the role of the Hippo pathway in regulating heavy metal response gene transcription. Specifically, the difference of transcriptional profiles between the wild-type and the Hippo pathway kinases LATS1/2-deficient HEK293A cells was examined under control- and heavy metals zinc and cadimuim treated-conditions.

Gene expression in diploid and evolved tetraploid RPE-1 and BJ-1 cells

(Submitter supplied) Both diploid RPE-1 and BJ-1 cells were made tetraploid by transient treatment with the cytokinesis inhibitor DCD. Proliferating tetraploids from both BJ-1 and RPE-1 were selected and isolated. The gene expression profiles of the proliferating tetraploid cells were then compared to the diploids from which they originated.

Gene expression profile of diploid and tetraploid mouse primary hepatocyte

(Submitter supplied) Genetically unstable tetraploid cells can promote tumorigenesis. Recent estimates suggest that ~37% of human tumors have undergone a genome-doubling event during their development. This potentially oncogenic effect of tetraploidy is countered by a p53-dependent barrier to proliferation. However, the cellular defects and corresponding signaling pathways that trigger growth suppression in tetraploid cells are not known. more...

Gene expression profile of Skov3 cells cultured with DMSO (Control) or GA-017 in 3D condition

(Submitter supplied) 3D cell culture models are recognized for representing the physiological microenvironment and exhibiting higher concordance with in vivo conditions, when compared to a conventional 2D cell culture model. However, cells grown in 3D cultures are likely to exhibit slower growth than those in 2D cultures. We found that addition of a novel small molecule named GA-017 to culture media promotes the cell proliferation particularly under 3D conditions. more...
