(Submitter supplied) The liver is the central organ in the regulation of nutrient metabolism, xenobiotic metabolism, and detoxification. Aging leads to a marked change in liver structure and function, characterized by a decline in weight, blood flow, regeneration rate, and detoxification. However, the mechanisms that contribute to these changes are poorly described. Global gene expression profiles of aged versus young adult dogs have not been compared previously.
