Rifin/stevor family Several multicopy gene families have been described in Plasmodium falciparum, including the stevor family of subtelomeric open reading frames and the rif interspersed repetitive elements. Both families contain three predicted transmembrane segments. It has been proposed that stevor and rif are members of a larger superfamily that code for variant surface antigens. |
